  1. I really appreciated this post. Some people just don’t understand that teens can understand complex writing. I’m a teen myself, so I find it frustrating, but this made me happy.

    I’m coming from the opposite point of view. I’ve gotten turned-off from reading a lot of YA because the WRITING felt ham-fisted. The kind of writing that would get laughed at had it entered an adult market. It’s not an issue with the subject or the characters, but the WAY they’re written. I don’t know if maybe I just had the bad luck to read YA writers that were perhaps still raw in their writing craft, but this is what really frustrates me about the YA I’ve read so far.
