  1. Thanks for bringing this discussion to us, Lori. It’s good to know that the pros seem just as confused and frustrated as us aspiring authors who jumped into the fray of trying to be published and earning some money without knowing how deep the water is, or even which way the stream was flowing.

  2. Thank you, Lori for providing a summation of the meeting and your opinion. As an new indie writer, learning about the industry’s frame of mind makes be realize how fortunate I am to be writing in 2012 when there are so many options.

  3. Thank you for this terrific retelling of what transpired at that roundtable. I have been on the publishing end and now the writing side of books, and your article describes the current situation beautifully. The concept that there is nothing so constant as change applies to this industry big-time. You do a great job of capturing the excitement and the fear.

  4. Thanks so much for bringing this compelling story to us in a balanced manner. As writers this is an empowering time. That said, agents have a role to play, and figuring it out, will eventually serve the industry and the reader.
