The Links of Autumn

September 28, 2011 by J L Wilson

… not as pretty as “autumn leaves”, but still interesting, I hope.  Seems like a lot of buzz around ‘the death of books as we know them.’ Somehow, I think they’ll still be around for a while…

And once again, my apologies if you comment and I don’t reply. I am, again, traveling during this posting time. Maybe some month I’ll actually be in town at the end of the month (but looking at my calendar, I have my doubts).

Enjoy!

* I am not surprised that agents are ‘weeding out’ books. It happened to me when I was told my heroines were ‘too old’.

* Can authors survive? I think there are some gaps in his logic …

* And Joe Konrath replies … I love these digital to-and-fro conversations.

* I wonder sometimes where the literary establishment has been. ‘Author as entrepeneur‘ has been around for years, really.

* Are books dead and can authors survive? some gaps in his logic …

* This is a good link to keep handy: an ebook buying guide (frequently updated).

* What goes into an ebook? Not sure I agree with all of this, but it’s a good overview.

* I don’t read ‘literary books’ so I found this interesting. I may pick one up now that I realize some are, well, readable.

* I thought the comment about “Steve worship” was in poor taste, until I realized the alternative mentioned. Can’t wait to see this new tablet.

* A chance to do some Q&A with an editor. Interesting answers, methinks.

* Book are geared toward girls, so boys don’t read. Hmm. Not sure I buy this.

* The debate regarding agents becoming publishers continues. I like this article. It makes a lot of good points.

* I confess: I would probably not notice historical issues in a book, nor care about them.
